780-RS - Georgian Law On Broadcasting
1. This law stipulates the terms for broadcasting in accordance with the principles of freedom of speech and opinion and free enterprise; defines the rules of establishment of an independent regulatory authority in the broadcasting sector and identifies its functions, and determines the conditions for regulation of business in the sphere as well as licensing terms and procedures. 2. This law aims to establish an independent public broadcaster, free from state intervention; to regulate business in the broadcasting sphere in accordance with principles of transparency, fairness and impartiality, by means of an independent regulatory authority; to stimulate freedom of speech and opinion and a competitive environment between broadcasters; to ensure equality and independence of license holders and effective use of frequencies.
